Right smack in the middle of Denmark's capital, Copenhagen, is one of the worlds best and most venerable theme parks, the Tivoli Gardens. It opened in 1843, which makes it the second oldest theme park in the world, and it still keeps some of the worlds oldest functioning roller coasters. You will also find new exciting additions, however, such as the worlds tallest merry-go-round (pictured) open since 2006. Apart from its rides, Tivoli is most famous for its beautiful pleasure gardens, great restaurants and world-class entertainment.
"With the unique atmosphere, the lights, the people, the rides, the concerts and parades etc, Tivoli means different things to different people. Some come here to enjoy the many, fantastic flowers or spend a day with their grandchildren. Others come here as part of an annual tradition with the family where ice cream, rides and having a good time is central. Others again come here for the cultural events in the Concert Hall, at the Pantomime Theatre, in the Glass Hall theatre and the Open Air Stage." (Tivoli.dk)
