The Worlds Best White Water Rafting - Pacuare River

Rafting Costa Rica's Pacuare River is a real jungle adventure with exotic vegetation, animal life and gorgeous waterfalls being an important part of the experience. And if the thought of jaguars hiding in the rainforest is not enough to get you excited, the class IV rapids surely will. As you would expect from a river emptying into the Caribbean Ocean, the temperature in both air and water is very pleasant.

"Its source is located 1800 m above sea level, in the Talamanca Range near the Berhed Indian Reserve. The area holds primary rain forest, and the tropical wonders abound as you snake down through the river. Bird watching is great in between rough sections. Some of the area's most common wild residents are butterflies, toucans, monkeys, ocelots and rarely-seen jaguars." (Tourism.co.cr)

  1. I did this river in 06. Awesome rapids and sweet scenery. From San Jose you can get transportation breakfast and lunch for $90. Get ready to swim.
